Days 183 & 184 – Egypt

April 6 & 7, 2010 – Cairo, Egypt

For the next 10 days Eric and I do not need to worry about anything except getting up on time… and even then there’s a wake-up call.

Everything is being taken care of by the tour company!

It’s a weird feeling but after 6 months of searching out food, shelter, transportation, sites, etc. it’s a welcome break.

And since everything is provided on the tour, we figure a little cutting and pasting of the itinerary from the tour company’s website is appropriate…

Best of Egypt 2010 – Tour Day 1 - Depart USA

Well, since we don’t live in the USA and we’re already ahead of schedule, we decide to enjoy our first real taste of Egypt by heading to the Khan al-Khalili Souq…

…where we spend some time getting lost.

Tour Day 2 - Arrive Cairo

You are met on your arrival at Cairo Airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of your day is at leisure to discover the amazing contrasts of ancient and modern Egypt.

As I’ve already mentioned there was no “meet at the airport” for us.

While my parents enjoy some leisure time by the pool, Eric and I are take off to explore Heliopolis, a “burb” of Cairo.

Of course in our exploration we find a great place for lunch. The staff is ecstatic to have “foreigners” in their shop and treat us like gold with an amazing feast.

We finish off our day over “cocktail” hour and dinner in another one of the hotel’s eight restaurants.
